Horatio’s One Wish: A middle-grade adventure novel, perfect for 3rd grade and up or to read aloud to younger children.

This is a story that will tickle your funny-bone and touch your heart. But most of all the characters in the story endear themselves to you. What makes Horatio’s One Wish so memorable is how much you care about Horatio and his band of friends and how moved you are when you finish the book.  Horatio’s One Wish is an “epic adventure,” an inspiring story of transformation that, in the end, will leave you feeling transformed as well.

You never think someone you see almost every day for seven years would disappear one day and not come back. But that’s what happened to Horatio when his best friend, Rollic, went exploring downriver.

With those opening sentences, in this beautifully illustrated book, Horatio’s One Wish takes you on a journey full of magic and mystery, into a world of woodland creatures and strange beasts. Horatio’s One Wish is a heartwarming and humorous story that shows what true friendship means.

Horatio has lived alone for as long as he can remember. His only friend is a river otter named Rollic, who visits him nearly every day. But when Rollic goes missing, Horatio know he must rescue him before it’s too late. With the help of hamster twins, Whisklet and Whimser, Horatio sets off on an adventure beyond anything he could have dreamed. Along the way, Horatio meets Leala, a champion archer from the hedgehog village—a village Horatio never knew existed. Leala opens a door to a home Horatio has yearned for all his life. Will Horatio continue on and risk his life to rescue his friend or will he follow Leala back to his long-lost home?
